The spaciousness of the suite and terrace. The cleanliness. The special touches of the decor and the comfort. The friendliness and helpfulness of the host.

The access to the hotel from the main street. The lack of a detailed map showing exactly where the hotel is located, and it would be helpful to know in which area of Positano the hotel is located.

My wife, two late teenage daughters and I stayed here for 2 nights in Sep. We weren't actually at the main Casa Teresa accommodation but a short 2 min walk higher up which comprised 2 rooms in a split-level arrangement, with the downstairs room having a double bed for the girls and an upstairs 'matrimonial' room having a double bed. Both rooms were great. The upstairs room was large and spacious and opened out onto a large terrace balancony with a fantastic view over the ocean. Great for relaxing in the deck chairs with a good book and glass of wine/beer. If you've never been to Positano (as we hadn't) it was a bit tricky trying to follow the GPS to this address ... what seemed to be roads on the GPS were actually pedestrian alley-ways, so on our second loop around the impossibly narrow one-way road that winds through the town, we pulled over into one of the 'conveniently' placed private garages, unloaded the bags and took them along the 1 min walk (down a few stairs) to the accommodation. Anyway once there it was great. Positano is a beautiful place, but prepare yourself for the 416 stairs down to the beach. Going down isn't so bad. Coming up ... phew. But's its worth it. A gorgeous bay-beach awaits at the bottom with a great restaurant to tempt you in for a drink and some seafood pasta. Then walk along the shoreline and through a tunnel and you pop out at the main part of Positano (5 mins) which is just fantastic with its colourful buildings and narrow shop-filled alley-ways. All in all a great place to stay.

        Beautiful suite...spacious and clean

Location was down the cliff which required hauling heavy bags since no cars were allowed down that far. Also, when the air conditioning was turned on, an anrmy of ants emerged on the wall.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the heart of Positano. Good value for money.

The breakfasts are a bit limited, i.e. no choice and the coffee wasn't great. We had ants in our room but in fairness to the staff they sorted this out when we advised them of the problem.

The family was very nice; welcoming and friendly. The room had a very nice view; was spotlessly clean....surprisingly large with a king size bed and a single bed. The washroom was large with a tub and a shower. There was a mini fridge in our room and the cost of water, soft drinks etc was very cheap...pretty much the same as it cost in corner stores.

It is not the fault of Casa Teresa but Positano is built into cliffs so there are steps everywhere. After getting off the bus we had to walk down over 100 steps with our luggage. Luckily when we checked out Dino (the grandson and breakfast provider) carried our luggage up those same steps for 10 Euros ...well worth it!!!! Breakfast was limited; no fresh fruit . Coffee, juice and a croissant with some toast was repeated every morning. We were there for 6 nights so it became a little boring. In all fairness though we were told that the government regulates what can be served to the travelling public. Not sure if this is the case. Wi Fi is spotty and very slow.

Room decoration was very nice, our room had a big terrace outside that overlooks the hill which was very nice. Standard Italian breakfast.

This applies to most places there but you need to take a stairs down for 5 mins and no parking space. If you have lot of luggage, prepare to get some exercise.

The staff was beyond amazing... The rooms were very clean and well kept. When we arrived we were welcomed with water and cafe. The most beautiful place with wonderful staff.

Excellent, just what we wanted, a slice of Italy, everybody from Dino to Teresa were lovely, we could not have selected a better place to stay, the location, the views from our room and the terrace were stunning, thanks Casa Teresa

The mountains around Positano my neck hurts, oh heck.

Beautiful room with an amazing view. Will definitely stay again. Lots of steps to the breach but still a great location.

No wifi (although we knew this before we went)

The accomodations were wonderful. Signora Teresa and her family were very attentive - made us feel like one of the family. The location in reference to the beaches, restaurants, and parking was very good.

We stayed in the suite and it was fantastic! The balcony was worth the price alone!

First, the feel here at Casa Teresa is more like staying in someone's home than a hotel. The kindess, warmth and graciousness of Signora Teresa makes you feel like her most treasured friend. The rooms are beautifully decorated with very high ceilings and chandeliers and most with sea views. The beds were very comfortable. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was out on a beautiful terrace surrounded by colorful flowers. It was a light breakfast, fresh crossiants and home- made bread with jams and coffee or tea. One evening, we were with our friends drinking wine on the terrace with some cheese and crackers and Signora Teresa brought us a plate of fresh tomatoes and sliced bread with oil and oregano. It was delicious! Our friend lost his credit cards and the hotel called all over town, from the police to their cousins and uncles. They went through a lot of trouble for him, but they found the cards. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would return in a heartbeat.

Very affordable in an otherwise very expensive town! And although it's an affordable option, the accommodation is still of a fantastic quality. Teresa is absolutely lovely, the rooms are gorgeous and spacious, plus they have views to die for. The hotel is tucked away on the western side of Positano, which is quieter and more relaxed than the centre of town. The staff are very helpful in providing local info, restaurant recommendations and bookings for tours etc. I would recommend Casa Teresa to any visitors!

The only issue is that, being around the western side of the city, the rooms don't get the evening sunshine. Not a problem, just something for guests to note!

Great view over the bay and a nice terrace for breakfast.

When we arrived we were sat on the terrace and told we'd be taken to our room shortly, half an hour later we were still there and were then told on asking that the room wouldn't be ready for another half an hour. Also, after hurriedly cleaning our room (it appeared no one had been staying there before us but they had forgotten we were coming so hadn't cleaned it) there were ants crawling all over the walls. Also, although it said on the small print of our booking that air conditioning would be extra, we would have appreciated it if they'd told us when we checked in that this was the case.

      • Older travelers
        9.4

We booked a room with a sea view and were given a suite which included a large balcony with expansive views of the Mediteranean Sea and the hillsides, a washing machine and a large bedroom/sitting room. The furnishings and decor were classical Italian. Teresa was really lovely and was able to communicate with us in basic English which was helpful. The town is very picturesque. Casa Teresa is on the local bus route/loop and the driver will tell you where to get off. If you plan to go for a swim take thongs or beach shoes as Positano has a very stony beach that is painful on bare feet.

The breakfast provided was very limited (just bread, croissants and jams and coffee/tea) especially for someone like me who is gluten and dairy free. It would have been good if there were eggs available even if there was an extra charge. There are so many steps everywhere in Positano-make sure you are fit. It was really hard to find this hotel especially as we arrived right on nightfall. I recommend you work this out carefully before you get to Positano.
